Yungblud Reflects on Life-Changing Moment at Black Sabbath’s Final Show

At Birmingham’s Villa Park, Black Sabbath held their final show titled “Back To The Beginning” on July 5. This historic concert was a monumental event for fans worldwide, with a lineup featuring revered bands such as Metallica, Slayer, and Guns N’ Roses. The musical director, Tom Morello, promised an unforgettable evening, and the performances delivered beyond expectations.
Yungblud’s Unforgettable Moment
One of the standout moments of the show occurred during the first set of Morello’s All Stars. A unique supergroup featuring Nuno Bettencourt, Frank Bello, Sleep Token’s II, and Yungblud performed a heartfelt rendition of Black Sabbath’s classic, “Changes.” The emotional performance resonated deeply, moving many in the audience to tears.
Rise to Stardom
Yungblud, whose real name is Dom Harrison, described how he felt before stepping on stage. In a recent interview with SiriusXM’s Trunk Nation, he recalled walking unannounced to a piano. Initially met with skepticism, he quickly won over the crowd. “When I hit the first chorus, I saw people’s reactions shift dramatically,” he noted.
He recognized the challenge of performing in front of a massive audience, with an estimated 50,000 people present, many of whom were unfamiliar with him. “I saw 25,000 people who didn’t know who I was. There were 15,000 who thought I was out of place,” he shared. Despite this, he felt compelled to express his admiration for Black Sabbath and its members.
A Tribute to Ozzy Osbourne
The performance at Villa Park significantly boosted Yungblud’s career. Following this, he was invited to honor Ozzy Osbourne again at the MTV Video Music Awards in September. His profile has increased remarkably, leading to three Grammy nominations for the 2026 awards: Best Rock Song for “Zombie,” Best Rock Album for “Idols,” and Best Rock Performance for his rendition of “Changes.”
Recognition and Gratitude
Yungblud expressed his gratitude for the recognition. “I’m extremely honored, and I’m eternally grateful,” he stated regarding his Grammy nominations. The experience at Black Sabbath’s farewell concert was not just a milestone in his career but also a poignant moment that solidified his place in the music world.
