Concerns are rising regarding illegal moose poaching on the Côte-Nord, particularly in the Forestville area. The Ministry of the Environment, the Fight Against Climate Change, Wildlife and Parks (MELCCFP) issued a public appeal for information on Friday.

Details of the Illegal Moose Poaching Incident

Authorities reported that a moose was allegedly shot unlawfully, possibly with a firearm. This incident likely occurred outside regulated hunting periods, specifically around late November or early December.

Location and Condition of the Moose

The remains of the moose were discovered along the side of the road at kilometer 15 on the Sault-aux-Cochons road, within the Forestville territory. It was noted that the animal had been field-dressed at the scene, indicating a blatant disregard for legal hunting practices.
