University Approves 2026-27 Campus Housing and Dining Rates

During a recent meeting on December 5, the Indiana University Board of Trustees approved new rates for campus housing and dining for the 2026-27 academic year. The approved increases align with the university’s commitment to maintaining affordable student accommodations while enhancing facility quality.
Details on Approved Housing and Dining Rates
The standard room and board rates for various campuses will see adjustments ranging from 1.68% to 3% compared to the previous year. Donald Lukes, the university treasurer, emphasized the importance of these adjustments in supporting safety, modernization, and a student-focused experience.
Rate Increases by Campus
- IU Bloomington: The standard room and board rate will increase by 2%, totaling $12,679 annually.
- IU Indianapolis: Rates for the most common room type will rise by 1.68%, bringing the total to $13,555 per year.
- IU South Bend: Room rates across all types will increase by 3%, with the typical rate set at $7,160 annually.
- IU Southeast: Room rates will also rise by 3%, with the most common rate at $9,120 per year.
New Meal Plan Requirements
At IU Southeast, a new required meal plan for the 2026-27 academic year has been introduced. The base meal plan will cost $800 for the entire academic year. This addition is part of the campus’s efforts to expand dining options and improve services for students.
Additionally, dining plan rates will increase by 2% at both IU Bloomington and IU Indianapolis. At IU South Bend, residents will be required to purchase a dining plan, which will include $824 towards the lowest-tier option.
