Cold Weather Persists; Showers Expected Late Thursday
The Mid-South is experiencing persistent cold weather, with temperatures remaining in the 30s throughout Thursday. Afternoon highs are expected to hover around 40 degrees as a new weather system approaches the region.
Weather Forecast: Cold Conditions and Showers Expected Late Thursday
In the late afternoon, a disturbance will bring rain south of Interstate 40, while areas near and north of I-40 may see a wintry mix. Fortunately, any accumulation is expected to be minimal, resulting in minor disruptions on the roads.
Friday’s Weather Outlook
On Friday, cloudy skies will prevail as the weather system moves eastward. Morning temperatures will remain cold, leading to possible roadway hazards. Commuters should be cautious, especially on bridges and overpasses.
By Friday afternoon, highs may approach the lower 40s, but overnight temperatures will drop back into the 30s.
Weekend Forecast and Upcoming Events
Looking ahead, conditions will improve slightly for the St. Jude Marathon on Saturday. Morning temperatures are expected to be in the middle 30s, with highs reaching the 40s to near 50 degrees by late afternoon.
However, another weather disturbance may bring clouds and a chance of showers late Saturday into early Sunday. A warming trend is anticipated next week, bringing temperatures closer to seasonal averages.
