Red Rocks to Host Denver Public Schools Graduations Again

The iconic Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre is set to welcome back graduation ceremonies for Denver Public Schools (DPS) students. This announcement follows a recent discussion at a Denver City Council meeting.
Return of Graduation Ceremonies to Red Rocks
During the meeting, Councilmember Serena Gonzales-Gutierrez expressed her desire for local graduations to be held at Red Rocks once more. As a North High School alumna, she reminisced about her own graduation experience at this stunning venue.
According to Tad Bowman, the director of Red Rocks, the amphitheater will host a DPS graduation in 2026. Currently, only Lincoln High School has booked a graduation ceremony for the upcoming year.
Future Opportunities for DPS Graduations
Bowman noted, “We’ll have the opportunity for three schools in the future years as well.” This presents an exciting chance for more Denver students to celebrate their achievements at this renowned location.
- The city-owned Red Rocks Amphitheatre is located within the boundaries of Morrison.
- Last year, Red Rocks hosted graduations for several schools, including:
- Columbine High School
- Chatfield High School
- Mountain Vista High School
However, DPS students have not had the opportunity to graduate at Red Rocks for several years. A review of past events shows that the last DPS graduations took place in 2021 for South High School and KIPP High School. Notably, North High School graduated there as recently as 1999.
Previous Participants in Red Rocks Graduations
Historically, other high schools such as Lincoln High School and John F. Kennedy High School have also held graduation ceremonies at Red Rocks.
As of now, DPS officials have not responded to requests for further information regarding the upcoming events.
