Tiger Woods Updates on Health and Future in PNC, Tour Champions

Golf icon Tiger Woods debuted with Jupiter Links GC at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens on January 14, 2025. This marks a significant moment for Woods as he has also announced he will not participate in the upcoming PNC Championship with his son, Charlie. This decision is notable as it is the first time since their debut together in 2020 that they will miss the event.
Tiger Woods’ Health Updates
Tiger Woods is currently recovering from recent surgeries, including a disc replacement on October 10 and Achilles tendon surgery in March. During a press briefing before the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas, he addressed his health. Woods stated, “It’s not as fast as I’d like it to be,” adding that recovery requires time and commitment.
Impact on Upcoming Events
Woods confirmed he will not compete in the PNC Championship scheduled for December 20-21 in Orlando. He expressed concern that participating could take a spot from another team, mentioning, “It wouldn’t be fair to my son or another team that could play.” Charlie Woods, currently ranked No. 9 by the American Junior Golf Association, had a successful year, winning the Class 1A state championship in November.
TGL Participation and Future Prospects
Woods, who will turn 50 on December 30, shared that he has been cleared to chip and putt but remains uncertain about his full return to competitive golf. He is a co-owner of Jupiter Links GC, which will compete in the new TGL season beginning December 28. He stated, “I won’t be able to play the first part of the TGL season but I will be there every match.”
- Season opener: January 13
- Additional matches on: January 20, February 2, March 1, March 3
While Woods has previously shown interest in competing in the Tour Champions for golfers aged 50 and older, he indicated that any decisions regarding that will come after he resumes regular play. “Let me get back to playing again,” he commented on assessing his future schedule and commitment. He remains focused on his rehabilitation process, acknowledging the challenges ahead.
