Tom from I’m A Celeb Shares Unique Story of Parents’ Meeting

Tom Read Wilson, known for his appearance on “I’m A Celebrity,” recently shared an unconventional story about his parents’ meeting, leaving his co-stars surprised. The Celebs Go Dating star attributes his passion for literature and etymology to his father, an English teacher.
Parents’ Unique Meeting Story
Tom revealed that his father, Wilson Sr., began dating his mother, Juliette, while working at Bradfield College in Berkshire. Interestingly, Tom’s maternal grandfather was also a teacher at the same institution. During a segment on “8 Out Of 10 Cats,” Tom elaborated, saying, “Sometimes the eldest girls of the faculty would date the youngest teachers.”
Age Gap Discussion
The comedian Rob Beckett raised eyebrows when he pointed out the age difference, remarking, “So your dad was a teacher there and your mum was a child there?” Tom defended his father, explaining, “She was 18, coming of age. He was 16 years her senior.”
Beckett also noted, “He was 34 and she was 18.” Despite the age gap, Tom expressed that he has never been concerned about it.
Support from Family
Juliette and Wilson Sr. have since separated, but she continues to cheer on Tom during his stint in the jungle. She expressed pride in his articulate nature, admitting that sometimes his vocabulary can be challenging for her to keep up with. She stated, “He was born with a dictionary in his mouth. His father is an English teacher, so that’s where he gets it from.”
Tom’s Accomplishments
Aside from his reality TV presence, Tom is a published author with three notable works:
- Every Word Tells A Story
- On The Tip of My Tongue: The Perfect Word For Every Life Moment
- Wonderful Words That Tell A Tale
Speaking about his time on the show, Juliette expressed her delight in Tom’s personality shining through, stating, “He’s doing so well… I just think he’s really coming across well.”
Bravery on Display
Juliette also highlighted Tom’s bravery during challenges, particularly when he faced snakes. She remarked, “That thing with the snakes, that was just very brave. I did deep down know he was quite courageous.”
