Travelers in Central New York are facing challenging conditions this Black Friday due to heavy snowfall and strong winds. The National Weather Service has issued a lake effect snow warning for several counties, impacting holiday travel.
Weather Warnings and Forecast
The counties affected by the lake effect snow warning include:
- Onondaga
- Madison
- Oneida
Forecasts suggest significant snowfall across Central New York:
- Onondaga and Oswego counties might see between 2 to 8 inches of snow.
- Madison and Oneida counties could accumulate up to 11 inches.
Expected Conditions Throughout the Day
In Syracuse, particularly in the north and east regions, up to 3 inches of snow is anticipated from late morning until 7 p.m. Snowfall will continue into the night, potentially adding another 3 inches before midnight. An additional 1.5 inches may fall early Saturday morning.
The forecast indicates that Madison and Oneida counties could receive 5 to 7 inches of snow during the day. Another 4 inches is expected to accumulate overnight.
