Pettiford, Hall Propel No. 21 Auburn Past Oregon in Players Era Opener

Auburn University’s basketball team, ranked No. 21, celebrated an impressive victory over Oregon with an 84-73 score at Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas. The match took place during the Players Era Championship on Monday, showcasing the Tigers’ determination and teamwork.
Pettiford and Hall Lead the Charge
Tahaad Pettiford emerged as a key player, scoring 24 points and contributing four assists and four rebounds. His performance included an excellent shooting display, where he made 8 of 13 attempts on two-point shots and converted 5 of 6 free throws. “My teammates had my back and just told me to keep going,” Pettiford remarked, reflecting on his return to form.
Keyshawn Hall also made an impactful return, scoring 18 points and securing six rebounds in 36 minutes of play. Hall’s efforts at the free-throw line were flawless as he went a perfect 6-for-6. He expressed his desire to contribute, saying, “I wanted to get back out there so (athletic trainer) Clark (Pearson) had me grinding every day.”
Team Performance and Defensive Strategy

Freeman contributed significantly with four steals and matched Hall with six rebounds. Despite Oregon’s attempts to narrow the gap, Hall’s critical three-pointer secured a 77-67 advantage with just over two minutes remaining. Kevin Overton closed the game with a slam dunk after forcing Oregon’s final turnover.
