President Murmu Leads Constitution Day Celebration at Central Hall

India’s President Droupadi Murmu will preside over the observance of Constitution Day on November 26, 2025. This significant event will take place in the historic Central Hall of the old Parliament building.
Celebrating Constitution Day
Constitution Day, also known as Samvidhan Diwas, has been commemorated on November 26 since 2015. This date marks the adoption of the Indian Constitution by the Constituent Assembly in 1949. Notably, while several provisions of the Constitution were enacted right away, others became effective on January 26, 1950— the day India was declared a Republic.
Event Highlights
The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs has announced that this national function will take place at Samvidhan Sadan. Besides President Murmu, notable figures expected to attend include:
- C.P. Radhakrishnan, Vice-President and Chair of Rajya Sabha
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi
- Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla
- Various Union Ministers and Members of Parliament
During the event, both the Speaker and the Vice-President will speak before President Murmu addresses the attendees. One of the event’s notable features will be the digital launch of the Indian Constitution in nine languages: Malayalam, Marathi, Nepali, Punjabi, Bodo, Kashmiri, Telugu, Odia, and Assamese.
Additions to the Ceremony
A commemorative booklet showcasing calligraphy from the original Constitution will also debut. Alongside these activities, the President will lead a reading of the Preamble. This important ceremony emphasizes the foundational values of India’s Constitution.
Nationwide Participation
In celebration of Constitution Day, various programs will unfold across India. All Union Ministries, along with state and Union territory governments, will partake in organizing different events. These activities include:
- Online reading of the Preamble through MyGov.in and Constitution75.com
- A national online quiz
- Blog and essay competitions themed “Hamara Samvidhan – Hamara Swabhiman”
- Conferences, seminars, and debates
- Short films, exhibitions, and cultural events
- Poster, painting, and rangoli competitions
Through these diverse activities, citizens will have opportunities to engage with the Constitution and celebrate its significance.
