Veteran broadcaster John Oakley is set to conclude his tenure at 640 Toronto (CFIQ-AM) this week. After 46 years in the industry, Oakley will host his final broadcast of The John Oakley Show on Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. ET.
John Oakley’s Career Journey
Oakley’s association with 640 Toronto spans over two decades. He began his career in 1980 on the overnight show at CFOR in Orillia. Subsequently, Oakley moved on to host at CJCL in Toronto, and later, at Montreal’s CJAD and CFCF stations.
In 2003, he transitioned to CFRB (now known as Newstalk 1010) in Toronto, anchoring the morning slot for 13 years. In 2019, he made the switch to afternoons at 640 Toronto, where he has cemented his reputation as a leading voice in Canadian talk radio.
