David Moyes Challenges Everton Duo Before Man United Clash

Everton manager David Moyes has issued a call to action for midfielders Jack Grealish and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. He wants both players to step up and contribute more goals as the team faces challenges in its attacking line.
Striking Challenges at Everton
The Toffees are currently grappling with issues in their striking department. Strikers Beto and Barry have struggled to find form, putting additional pressure on the midfield to deliver goals. Moyes highlighted the need for creativity and goal-scoring from his midfielders to alleviate this concern.
Need for Goals from Midfield
Last season, Iliman Ndiaye emerged as Everton’s top scorer with 11 goals. This campaign, he has netted four times, making him the club’s primary scorer. However, with the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) approaching, his absence is anticipated to impact the team’s scoring ability.
Moyes acknowledged Ndiaye’s contributions but emphasized the necessity for others to take responsibility: “Ili’s done really well for us…but we need some of the other boys to do so as well.” He specifically mentioned Dewsbury-Hall and Grealish as players who have the potential to add goals for the team.
Player Performances and Expectations
- Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall: He has scored one goal and provided two assists this season. His performances have shown promise, with a notable goal against Molyneux.
- Jack Grealish: Despite having four assists in ten games, he needs to balance creativity with goal-scoring. His only goal this season came in a late dramatic win against Crystal Palace.
Moyes remarked on Grealish’s capabilities, stating, “I want him to be more creative…but also scoring a couple of goals would be good as well.” He believes both players have settled in well since their summer arrivals and can significantly impact the team’s performance.
Looking Ahead to the United Match
With Ndiaye unavailable for at least a month, the upcoming clash against Manchester United presents an opportunity for Grealish and Dewsbury-Hall to shine. Moyes and the Everton fans are hopeful they can add to their goal tally during this critical match, as the Toffees search for solutions in their quest for goals.
