Manhunt Intensifies for Escaped ‘Slender Man’ Stabber After Removing Ankle Monitor

Authorities have initiated an extensive manhunt for Morgan Geyser, a Wisconsin woman previously convicted in the infamous 2014 “Slender Man” stabbing case. Geyser, who removed her ankle monitor, fled from a group home in Madison on Saturday night. The Madison Police Department confirmed her escape in a statement released via social media.
Details of the Escape
Geyser was last seen on Kroncke Drive around 8 p.m. with an adult acquaintance. As of Sunday morning, her location remains unknown. The police urged anyone who spots her to immediately contact 911.
Background of the Case
In 2017, Geyser pleaded guilty to attempted first-degree intentional homicide. This charge stemmed from the violent assault on Payton Leutner during a sleepover in 2014, where Geyser, aided by her friend Anissa Weier, stabbed Leutner 19 times in an attempt to appease the fictional horror entity, Slender Man.
Legal Proceedings and Mental Health
Although Geyser was found guilty, she claimed that her mental illness absolved her of responsibility. Consequently, she was declared not guilty by reason of mental defect. Geyser has since been housed at the Winnebago Mental Health Institute, where she was expected to serve a 40-year sentence.
Current Status
Prior to her escape, Morgan Geyser had been residing in a Madison group home. She had been granted the right to request conditional release every six months, indicating the ongoing evaluation of her mental health status.
What’s Next?
The authorities are actively searching for Geyser, who has been at large since her escape. A recent surveillance image of her was circulated in hopes of gathering tips from the public.
The situation remains fluid as the police continue their investigation. Updates will follow as new information becomes available.
