In the second quarter, Mahomes became the fastest player in NFL history to reach 35,000 career passing yards. This accomplishment highlights his remarkable growth since being drafted 10th overall in 2017. Over his nine NFL seasons, he has thrown for more than 35,000 yards and recorded over 260 touchdowns.

- Three Super Bowl titles
- Six Pro Bowl selections
In his first full season as the Chiefs’ starter in 2018, Mahomes joined an elite list of players, becoming the second ever to throw for over 5,000 yards and 50 touchdowns in a single season, alongside Colts legend Peyton Manning. Sunday’s game also moved him into the top 35 all-time in career passing yards.
Current Season Statistics
As of Week 12, Mahomes ranked fifth in the league for passing yards with 2,625 and seventh in touchdowns with 18. He also recorded only six interceptions and held the third-best QBR at 72.7 for the season. Despite his individual successes, the Chiefs faced hurdles with back-to-back losses to the Buffalo Bills and Denver Broncos, casting doubts on their playoff aspirations.
Looking ahead, the Chiefs are set to take on the Dallas Cowboys on November 27, as part of a Thanksgiving primetime matchup. Following this game, Kansas City will host the Houston Texans, welcome the Chargers, visit the Tennessee Titans, and face the Broncos at home before concluding with a road game against the Las Vegas Raiders. With playoffs on the line, the Chiefs will depend on Mahomes to maintain his high-level performance.
