Donald Glover Canceled Tour After Stroke Revealed Heart Hole, Says Doctors

Donald Glover, also known as Childish Gambino, has shared alarming health issues that led to the cancellation of his New World Tour. During a recent performance at Tyler, the Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw, Glover recounted a serious stroke he experienced last year.
Health Scares and Tour Cancellation
Glover revealed that while performing in Louisiana, he suffered from intense head pain, which prompted a hospital visit in Houston. It was there that doctors confirmed he had experienced a stroke. This revelation weighed heavily on him, as he expressed concern about disappointing his fans.
In addition to the stroke, Glover disclosed he faced other health challenges, including a broken foot and a startling diagnosis of a heart defect. “They found a hole in my heart,” he explained, noting that these issues required multiple surgeries.
Advice to Live Life Fully
In light of his health struggles, Glover encouraged audience members to embrace life to its fullest potential. “They say everybody has two lives, and the second life starts when you realize you have one,” he shared, emphasizing the importance of living authentically.
Tour History and Future Plans
- Last September, Glover postponed the remaining North American dates of The New World Tour.
- The tour was ultimately canceled due to ongoing health challenges.
Glover’s musical career as Childish Gambino spans over a decade, culminating in six albums and five Grammy Awards. However, he announced last July that he would retire the Childish Gambino moniker, explaining a shift in personal priorities and a newfound joy in fatherhood.
“When I put my son on my shoulders, I feel deep joy,” Glover remarked, reflecting on the meaningful experiences that transcend his music career. His decision to step away from the stage signifies a shift towards valuing life beyond performance.
