Background on “The Simpsons” and its Streaming Success
The animated series produced by 20th TV Animation has been available on Disney+ since the platform’s launch. Earlier in the year, it was reported that Fox renewed “The Simpsons” for four additional seasons, alongside other animated series like “Family Guy” and “Bob’s Burgers.” This renewal also marks the return of “American Dad!” to Fox after an 11-year hiatus.
Partnership and Future Prospects
In November, Fox signed a significant $1.5 billion deal with Hulu, Disney+’s sister streaming service. This agreement, which runs through 2029, includes in-season streaming rights to various shows. It enabled Fox and Disney Television Studios to secure a robust multi-year, multi-series deal that enhances the streaming offerings on both platforms.
With the exclusive global streaming rights, both Hulu and Disney+ will host the collective library of these series, totaling around 2,000 episodes. “The Simpsons” remains a key component, solidifying its place in the animated landscape.
