German Christmas Market Returns to Quebec

The festive season has officially begun in Quebec with the return of the popular German Christmas Market. Running until December 23, the historic heart of the city transforms into a large Christmas village. Attendees can experience the magic across five beautifully illuminated sites featuring traditional wooden stalls, unique gift ideas, mulled wine, and gourmet treats.

Highlights of the German Christmas Market

For almost 15 years, this market has been a favorite for families visiting Old Quebec. More than 200 activities are available for free, catering to all ages. Musical performances, giant puppets, and rock bands will contribute to the festive atmosphere at various locations, including:

  • Place D’Youville
  • Place de l’Hôtel-de-Ville
  • Gardens of the Hôtel-de-Ville
  • Sainte-Anne Street
  • Area behind Holy Trinity Cathedral
  • Place d’Armes

Britta Kröger, president of the German Christmas Market in Quebec, expressed her excitement, stating, “Every year, it’s wonderful to see our beautiful city become so bright and enchanting.” The mayor of Quebec, Bruno Marchand, echoed her sentiments, emphasizing that the market truly embodies the warmth and holiday spirit that the city is known for.

Since its inception in 2008, the German Christmas Market in Quebec has gained recognition as one of the most popular Christmas markets in North America.
