Bears Lose All Three Starting Linebackers to Injuries

The Chicago Bears are set to face a challenging matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers without any of their starting linebackers. This situation arises as the team has officially ruled out T.J. Edwards, Tremaine Edmunds, and Noah Sewell due to injuries.
Bears Lose All Three Starting Linebackers to Injuries
As of Friday, neither Edwards, Edmunds, nor Sewell participated in any practices throughout the week. Edwards is currently on the mend from hand surgery and is also dealing with a hamstring issue. Meanwhile, both Edmunds (groin) and Sewell (elbow) suffered injuries during last Sunday’s game.
Backup Linebacker Options
- D’Marco Jackson
- Rookie Ruben Hyppolite II
- Amen Ogbongbemiga, a special teams player
In a bid to bolster their linebacker depth, the Bears recently added former Detroit Lions linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin to their practice squad. However, Reeves-Maybin is primarily known for his special teams contributions.
Other Notable Injuries
The Bears are facing additional injury concerns, as running backs Roschon Johnson (thumb) and Travis Homer (hamstring/knee) have also been ruled out. Defensive players left tackle Theo Benedet, safety Jaquan Brisker, and cornerbacks Kyler Gordon and Jaylon Johnson are listed as questionable for the game.
To have a chance to play this weekend, the Bears may need to promote either Kyler Gordon or Jaylon Johnson from the practice squad by Saturday.
