Senators Face Ducks at Honda Center for Hockey Fights Cancer Night

On Thursday night, the Anaheim Ducks hosted the Ottawa Senators at Honda Center for the anticipated Hockey Fights Cancer Night. This special event united the hockey community in support of those affected by cancer.

Ducks Lead the Pacific Division

The Ducks entered the game with a strong performance, having expanded their lead in the Pacific Division. They now stand at 27 points, leading the Golden Knights and Kings, both at 24 points. Anaheim’s recent success has set a competitive tone for the season.

Senators’ Preparation for the Match

The Senators faced some challenges as they traveled west for their matchup. They had not played since their narrow 1-0 loss to the Kings on Saturday. To prepare, Ottawa’s team arrived early to adjust to the Pacific time zone and practiced for two days before facing the Ducks.

Coaching Insights

Senators’ head coach, Travis Green, emphasized the importance of their practice time. He noted that the team is tackling a seven-game road trip, starting with this match against the Ducks. “We’re facing a young team that’s off to a good start,” Green remarked, highlighting the talent on the opposing roster.

Key Players in Focus

Tim Stützle is leading the Senators with 19 points this season, closely followed by teammate Drake Batherson with 18 points. Unfortunately, Brady Tkachuk remains sidelined as he recovers from thumb surgery and did not participate in this game.

Hockey Fights Cancer Night Activities

As part of the NHL’s Hockey Fights Cancer Month, the Ducks organized multiple activities. Presented by UCI, the evening aimed to raise awareness and support for cancer patients and their families. The local nonprofit, Jessie Rees Foundation, was the beneficiary of the event.

Tribute to Cancer Warriors

Fans were invited to honor their loved ones who have battled cancer through the “I Fight For” Moment of Recognition. Complimentary tribute cards were made available at various locations throughout Honda Center, including:

  • Go Mango wall at the South entrance
  • Michelob Ultra Puck Drop Patio outside North doors
  • UCI Health tabling locations along the 200-level concourse

Hockey Fights Cancer Night provided a meaningful experience for fans while celebrating resilience in the face of adversity. The event not only showcased the Ducks and Senators but also brought the community together in a shared cause.
