Notah Begay Reveals Two Surprise PGA Tour Events for Tiger Woods in 2026

Tiger Woods is facing significant challenges as he navigates the aftermath of his seventh back surgery. The legendary golfer is 15-time major champion, yet he hasn’t specified a timeline for his return to competitive golf. His last appearance in a professional event was the 2024 Open Championship. As Woods prepares to celebrate his 50th birthday next month, he becomes eligible to participate in the PGA Tour Champions starting next year.

Notah Begay III Discusses Tiger Woods’ Possible Return

In a recent episode of the Straight Facts Homie podcast, Notah Begay III, a close friend and analyst of Woods, highlighted key aspects of Tiger’s physical condition that may affect his participation in specific PGA Tour events. He pointed out that Woods has been focusing on his mobility, especially the challenges of walking during tournaments. Despite this, Woods maintains impressive ball speed, clocking in between 175-180 mph, a performance level still suitable for the PGA Tour.

Potential Events for Tiger Woods in 2026

Begay III speculated that, due to the terrain, Woods might approach two PGA Tour events in 2026 that he usually avoids: the Charles Schwab Challenge and the RBC Heritage. He noted:

  • Woods struggles with walking 72 holes plus a pro-am.
  • Colonial and Hilton Head boast flatter landscapes, making them more accessible for Woods.
  • Woods has only played Colonial once and has never been to Hilton Head.

Future on the PGA Tour Champions

Looking ahead, Begay III expressed his optimism about Woods joining the PGA Tour Champions next year. In this format, Woods would have the option to use a cart, alleviating some of the challenges posed by walking. Begay III remarked, “You can only sit in your house and think about golf and hit balls at the range for so long.” He hopes that Woods embraces this opportunity to compete again.

Woods’ Pursuit of Victory

As he aims for his 83rd victory on the PGA Tour, Woods is currently tied with Sam Snead for the most wins. According to Begay III, achieving this milestone is within Woods’ reach: “I will not say he won’t win 83. I can’t. I’ve seen too many crazy things from him.” The golf community eagerly awaits his return, as Woods’ participation significantly enhances the excitement and enjoyment of the sport.
