Bolton Man Quits Driving Over Black Market Concerns

A Bolton resident, Mr. Armaan, recently decided to stop driving due to alarming experiences related to the driving test process. He expressed frustration over the presence of a black market for driving test slots, which he claims has made it exceedingly difficult for honest individuals to secure appointments.
Concerns Over Black Market Driving Test Slots
Mr. Armaan recounted that an instructor informed him of a shocking requirement to pay between £500 and £600 for an urgent driving test package. He described this situation as “insane” and expressed his anger at the unfair treatment of customers in the driving test system.
Profiteering and Scamming
According to Mr. Armaan, some individuals appear to be capitalizing on the high demand for driving tests. He reported that scammers have been attempting to exploit the situation by offering slots they do not actually possess. “I’ve encountered numerous messages with offers to sell test slots at inflated prices,” he added.
- Mr. Armaan reported receiving 16 to 18 scam messages in his inbox.
- He noted the existence of legitimate Facebook groups for test slot swaps.
- However, he emphasizes his skepticism toward unsolicited offers.
Mr. Armaan highlights the need for reform in the driving test system. He believes that greater oversight is essential to eliminate the black market and protect genuine candidates seeking to obtain their driving licenses. Until then, he remains hesitant to continue pursuing his driving ambitions.
