Police Report: Woman Set Ablaze on CTA Train in Loop

A woman is in critical condition after being set ablaze on a CTA train in the Loop. The incident occurred on a Monday evening, around 9:25 p.m., in the 100 block of West Lake Street.

Details of the Incident

According to police reports, the victim, a 26-year-old woman, was involved in an argument with a 45-year-old man. During this confrontation, the man poured a flammable liquid on her and ignited it.

As the train stopped, the assailant fled the scene. The woman managed to exit the train but collapsed immediately afterward. Firefighters responded promptly to extinguish the flames engulfing her.

Victim’s Condition

The victim suffered severe burns and was transported to Stroger Hospital. As of now, she remains in critical condition, emphasizing the gravity of the situation.
