Broncos Shake Up Roster, Keep Singleton Off Injured Reserve

The Denver Broncos recently announced significant changes to their roster, which includes notable player updates ahead of their upcoming game.
Broncos Roster Moves: Singleton Remains Active
One of the most important decisions involved inside linebacker Alex Singleton. He underwent surgery for testicular cancer on November 7, after playing in a narrow victory against the Las Vegas Raiders the previous day. Despite his health challenges, Singleton will not be placed on injured reserve. This decision signals optimism about his recovery and suggests that his absence from the field may be short-lived.
Recovery Journey and Temporary Replacement
Singleton’s cancer diagnosis came after he tested for elevated hormone levels during a routine league drug screening. After learning about his condition, he continued to participate in team activities, showcasing remarkable resilience.
As Singleton will be sidelined for the immediate future, linebacker Justin Strnad is set to take his place in the starting lineup. Additionally, Dre Greenlaw is expected to contribute on defense. To bolster their roster further, Garret Wallow will return from injured reserve after recovering from a hamstring injury.
Additional Roster Adjustments
The Broncos made other moves that impacted their lineup significantly. They waived wide receiver Trent Sherfield and added veteran Lil’Jordan Humphrey from the New York Giants’ practice squad. Humphrey’s addition alters the dynamics of the special teams, as he has limited experience in this area, having not participated in special-team plays during his previous seasons in Denver.
Promotions and Elevations
- Cornerback Reese Taylor was promoted from the practice squad to the 53-man roster in time for Sunday’s game.
- Denver utilized practice-squad elevations for tight end Marcedes Lewis and linebacker Jordan Turner.
Lewis, now aged 41, has reached the limit of practice-squad elevations, making his future participation contingent on him being added to the main roster.
Looking Ahead
The ongoing adjustments reflect the Broncos’ strategy to optimize their lineup while ensuring player welfare during this challenging season. Denver fans will be eager to see how these changes play out in the coming game.
