Game of Thrones Star Replaced by Face Scanning in Andor Season 1 Due to Injury

Rory McCann, known for his role as the Hound in Game of Thrones, was initially cast as Brasso in Andor. However, an injury shifted that opportunity. Brasso is a character who serves as a friend to Cassian Andor on the planet Ferrix, and the role ultimately went to actor Joplin Sibtain.
Injury Leads to Last-Minute Casting Change
McCann faced a significant injury that prevented him from fulfilling his role. According to Sibtain, McCann had sustained a limp. After a medical examination, doctors advised McCann that he required surgery to avoid permanent mobility issues.
This unforeseen circumstance allowed Sibtain to audition for Brasso. He described the process, noting that they used advanced technology to incorporate his face onto McCann’s body in certain scenes.
Upcoming Star Wars Roles
Rory McCann is set to take on the role of Baylan Skoll in Ahsoka season 2. This is particularly notable as he is stepping into the shoes of the late Ray Stevenson. Ahsoka season 2 is anticipated to release in 2026.
Meanwhile, Andor season 2 concluded earlier this year on Disney Plus. The shift in casting due to McCann’s injury has sparked interest, showcasing the unpredictable nature of production in the film industry.
