In a game against No. 4 Alabama, Sandell made a 25-yard field goal during the Sooners’ opening drive. This kick established a new school record for the most consecutive field goals made, reaching a total of 19.

Impressive Scoring Performance

  • Sandell has converted 19 out of 20 field goal attempts this season.
  • He achieved a perfect record in 26 extra-point attempts.
  • So far, he has accumulated a total of 83 points in the current season.

His notable performance against Tennessee, where he scored 55, 51, 40, and another 55-yard field goal, was pivotal in the Sooners’ upset victory. Sandell’s 55-yard kick not only matched his career-long but also set a record at Neyland Stadium for the longest field goal.

Record-Breaking Achievements

  • Set a school record with three field goals over 50 yards in a single game.
  • Established single-season records with six field goals of 50-plus yards.
  • Made 12 field goals from distances of 40 yards or more.

His average distance of 50.3 yards per successful field goal set a single-game FBS record for the longest average with a minimum of four conversions. In recognition of his outstanding performance, Sandell was named the SEC Special Teams Player of the Week and received the Lou Groza Award Star of the Week.

Before joining the Sooners, Sandell made headlines at UTSA, where he broke multiple records. He achieved a career-long 54-yard field goal and recorded 62 touchbacks on kickoffs, securing his place in the school’s history.
