Wyoming Starts Distributing SNAP Benefits Today

Today marks an important date for residents of Wyoming, as the state begins distributing SNAP benefits for November. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), previously known as food stamps, is crucial for supporting low-income households across the nation.

Full November Benefits Distribution

Initially, SNAP benefits were scheduled for distribution from November 1 to November 4. However, a recent federal government shutdown delayed these disbursements. With the government’s re-opening, the USDA has confirmed that Wyoming recipients will receive their full entitlements for the month.

Accessing Benefits

The Wyoming Department of Family Services has completed the necessary preparations to ensure SNAP benefits are available electronically. Recipients will see the funds deposited onto their Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards today.

  • Check benefit availability at the ebtEdge website before grocery shopping.
  • Full distribution aligns with federal guidelines following the government shutdown.

Statistics on SNAP in Wyoming

As of September 2025, Wyoming had:

  • 26,393 individuals receiving SNAP benefits.
  • 12,726 households benefiting from the program.
  • A total of $4.8 million allocated for food assistance in that month.

Low Income Energy Assistance Program Impact

Another program affected by the federal government shutdown is the Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP). This essential program has been paused since October 15 due to funding issues. Despite the lack of funds, Wyoming continues to process applications for LIEAP.

Residents who think they may qualify for LIEAP are encouraged to apply. Applications will be processed promptly once funding becomes available, ensuring continued support for those in need.
