Longtime Clarksville Leader, State Rep. Jeff Burkhart, Dies at 63

Jeff Burkhart, a cherished leader in Clarksville and a dedicated public servant, has passed away at the age of 63. He died Friday morning at his home, as confirmed by family members.

A Lifelong Commitment to Clarksville
Jeffery Darrell Burkhart was a lifelong Clarksville resident. He graduated from Northwest High School in 1980 and earned an associate degree in Fire Science from Volunteer State Community College in 2014.
Following high school, he began his career at Clarksville Gas and Water Department before transferring to the Fire Department in 1982, ultimately rising to the position of assistant fire chief. He ventured into the construction industry in 1985, where he successfully built both residential and commercial properties.
Political Career
Burkhart was elected to the Clarksville City Council in 2008 and re-elected in 2012 and 2016. In 2022, he made his mark in the Tennessee House of Representatives for District 75 and was re-elected in 2024.
Throughout his tenure, he contributed to several committees, including:
