Jet2 Launches Gatwick Base for Summer 2026 Travel

Jet2 has officially announced plans to commence operations from London Gatwick Airport starting in late March 2026. This move marks the airline’s first venture from Gatwick and follows the release of additional airport capacity. Jet2 has secured six slots and will base five Airbus A321neo aircraft at the airport, along with an additional aircraft positioned internationally.
Expansive Summer 2026 Schedule
For summer 2026, Jet2 plans to connect London Gatwick to 29 destinations. These include:
- Mainland Spain
- The Canary Islands
- The Balearic Islands
- Greece
- Turkiye
- Portugal
- Malta
- Italy
- Croatia
- Bulgaria
- Cyprus
Strategic Growth at Gatwick
Jet2 describes this development as a significant milestone in its growth strategy, particularly in expanding its footprint in Southern England. Gatwick will become Jet2’s 14th operational base, serving nearly 15 million people accessible within an hour’s travel via road or rail.
Investment and Future Plans
The airline emphasizes that this expansion is a vital aspect of its long-term growth ambitions. Jet2 plans to increase short-term investments to facilitate the Gatwick operations. The company expects to face promotional and resourcing costs in fiscal year 2026 as it prepares for a successful launch.
To support this initiative, Jet2 will adjust its fleet. It plans to substitute three leased aircraft with Airbus A321neo models for the London Gatwick operations. By fiscal year 2029, the Gatwick operation is anticipated to become profitable, contributing positively to the airline’s revenue growth.
