Singer Akon was arrested in the Atlanta metro area last week due to a linked warrant from Roswell, Georgia. The 52-year-old artist, born Aliaune Badara Thiam, was detained by Chamblee Police on November 7. He was taken into custody at approximately 12:30 p.m. and later released around six hours after booking, according to DeKalb County jail records.

The incident began when Chamblee police responded to an alert from a Flock camera. The alert identified a white Tesla truck connected to a warrant issued by the Roswell Police Department. Officers located Akon’s vehicle parked at Tint World on Chamblee Dunwoody Road.
Police identified Akon standing nearby and confirmed his identity using his driver’s license photo. They informed him of the active arrest warrant, which Akon acknowledged calmly. He was subsequently handcuffed and detained while the officers verified the warrant with the Roswell police.
Search and Arrest Confirmation

- The vehicle was being serviced and was not impounded by the police.
- The warrant was categorized as an “out-of-county (foreign warrant)” in jail records.
