Heavy Rain Sparks Flooding Alert in Wales: Yellow Weather Warning Issued

A yellow weather warning has been issued for Wales due to incoming heavy rainfall that raises the risk of flooding. The warning is effective from 06:00 GMT to 23:59 on Wednesday. The Met Office forecasts that south and mid Wales will experience the most significant impact.
Rainfall Predictions
Following earlier warnings, a substantial amount of rain is expected. Meteorologists predict:
- 40-50mm of rain may fall on higher ground.
- Widespread areas could receive 20-30mm of rain.
This heavy rainfall is anticipated over a period of 12 to 15 hours.
Flooding Risks
Recent heavy rain has already saturated the ground in many regions. Just days ago, Carmarthen experienced flooding described by business owners as the worst in living memory. This preceding rainfall increases the likelihood of further flooding as the soils remain unable to absorb additional moisture.
Residents and local authorities are advised to stay vigilant as conditions develop. The potential for flooding could pose risks to properties and disrupt daily life in affected areas.
