Chicago Bulls guard Josh Giddey was sidelined during the team’s 121-117 loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Monday due to a sprained right ankle. Giddey’s injury occurred during the third quarter of Saturday’s game against the Cleveland Cavaliers when he fell while attempting a crossover dribble.

Giddey’s Injury Details

Despite having returned to finish the game against the Cavaliers, Giddey struggled, failing to score with 0-for-6 shooting from the field. Coach Billy Donovan indicated that Giddey was considered day-to-day but expressed optimism that the injury would not keep him out long. “We don’t feel like it’s anything too severe with his ankle,” said Donovan. He noted that Giddey did not experience significant swelling after the game.

Upcoming Schedule for the Bulls

The game against the Spurs marked the Bulls’ final home game before embarking on a four-game road trip starting Wednesday in Detroit. Donovan acknowledged uncertainty regarding Giddey’s availability for the upcoming match against the Pistons but mentioned that the following three days off could facilitate his recovery.

Giddey’s Season Performance

  • Points per game: 21.4
  • Rebounds per game: 9.6
  • Assists per game: 9.3
  • Shooting percentage: 46%
  • Three-point shooting percentage: 39%

In the first nine games of the season, Giddey made a significant impact on the court, showcasing his skills and contributing to the team’s performance. His absence was felt during the loss to the Spurs as the Bulls navigated an important stretch of their season.
