Argyle Names Derek Adams as New Director of Football

Argyle Football Club has appointed Derek Adams as the new Director of Football. This marks his return to the club, where he previously served as manager.
Derek Adams’ Background
Derek Adams is 50 years old and brings a wealth of experience to Argyle. He first joined the club in 2015, leading it to promotion to League One during a successful four-year tenure. Since then, he has managed Morecambe on three occasions and has also been at Bradford City and Ross County.
New Role and Responsibilities
As Director of Football, Adams will oversee the men’s first-team structure. His role involves supporting Head of Football Operations David Fox and Head Coach Tom Cleverley. Unlike coaching, his focus will be on strategic guidance.
Statements from the Club
- Simon Hallett, Chairman: “Derek knows Argyle well and will provide valuable support to our staff.”
- Paul Berne, Chief Executive: “His experience will help us improve as we prepare for a busy fixture schedule and the January transfer window.”
Both officials expressed their optimism about Adams’ return during a challenging time for the club. They believe his extensive knowledge of football in England and Scotland will be vital in enhancing results and performance.
Next Steps for Derek Adams
Adams will start his new position on Monday. Fans can look forward to his first interview back at the club, which will be aired exclusively on El-Balad TV next week.
