Derby County Reports £11.3m Loss for Championship Season

Derby County has reported a financial loss of £11.3 million for the fiscal year ending in June 2025. This loss is a decrease of nearly £3 million compared to the prior year. The club’s financial report highlights several factors influencing this outcome.

Revenue Growth and Key Transactions

Despite the loss, there were positive developments in Derby County’s revenue streams. The club experienced an increase of £12.5 million, rising from £19.4 million to £31.9 million. This improvement is largely attributed to enhanced broadcast income.

The sale of defender Eiran Cashin to Premier League team Brighton for £9 million also contributed to mitigating the overall losses. Additionally, the club’s promotion to the Championship two seasons ago resulted in nearly £9 million more in television revenue compared to 2024.

Transfer Market Activity

During the financial period, Derby County invested approximately £12 million in new players. Notable signings included:

  • Ebou Adams
  • Kenzo Goudmijn
  • Jacob Widell Zetterstrom
  • Sondre Langas
  • Lars-Jorgen Salvesen
  • Carlton Morris

In addition to cash inflow from the Cashin transfer, the club benefited from various transfers and sell-on clauses involving players such as Liam Delap, Jayden Bogle, Morgan Whittaker, and Jason Knight.

Overall Operating Loss

Derby County’s total operating loss reached £11.1 million. A significant part of this figure was due to the compensation paid to acquire head coach John Eustace from Blackburn Rovers earlier in February.

In summary, while Derby County reported an £11.3 million loss for the Championship season, strategic player sales and improved broadcasting income helped lessen the financial impact. The club’s continued investment in new talent indicates its commitment to competing at higher levels.
