Man City Fans Celebrate 115 Reasons for Pride This Weekend

Manchester City fans have much to celebrate this weekend, marking a significant milestone in their community efforts. With both the men’s and women’s teams playing at home, supporters are looking forward to a proud moment.
115 Reasons for Pride This Weekend
The MCFC Fans Foodbank Support (MCFC FFS) is set to achieve its 115th foodbank collection. This celebration comes amid ongoing discussions about the Premier League charges against the club, which have drawn national attention.
Community Impact of MCFC FFS
Founded in 2020, shortly before the onset of the pandemic, MCFC FFS aims to support the local community through football. Although not officially associated with Manchester City FC, the group operates outside the Etihad Stadium and Joie Stadium during matchdays.
- Over 12 tonnes of food donations in the last five years.
- More than £30,000 raised, providing tens of thousands of meals.
The community’s need for foodbanks highlights the increasing vulnerability of many residents. Despite the unfortunate necessity of food collections, the volunteers from MCFC FFS are determined to showcase the generosity of City fans.
A Message of Solidarity
Alex Timperley, a member of MCFC FFS, expressed hope for a fruitful collection weekend. He noted that while the number ‘115’ has often been associated with negative implications, this weekend it represents a positive community effort.
“Every meal going to someone in need has been contributed by a supportive Manchester City fan,” Timperley stated. “It’s not charity; it’s solidarity.” He emphasized the importance of the community spirit that fans bring to the games.
Upcoming Matches and Collection Details
This weekend’s matches feature City Women facing West Ham on Saturday at noon, followed by the men’s team competing against Bournemouth on Sunday at 4:30 PM. Supporters are encouraged to contribute to food collections, which occur:
- Outside the North West turnstile of Joie Stadium before women’s games.
- At the junction of Sir Howard Bernstein Way under the white bridge opposite Asda before men’s games.
The upcoming matches provide a perfect platform for both celebrating community achievements and highlighting the spirit of Manchester City supporters. El-Balad urges fans to participate and show their solidarity this weekend.
