In a recent episode of the “Bertcast Podcast,” Ronda Rousey took the opportunity to criticize Joe Rogan during an interview with comedian Bert Kreischer. The discussion covered Rousey’s mixed martial arts background and her thoughts on returning to the UFC.
Ronda Rousey Takes Aim at Joe Rogan
During the interview, Kreischer playfully asked if there was a financial incentive that might lure Rousey back to the Octagon. Rousey responded, expressing satisfaction with her life and dismissing the idea of needing a sum to return.
As the conversation continued, Kreischer joked about needing Rogan’s advice on mixed martial arts techniques. Rousey seized this moment to critique Rogan’s qualifications.
Her Critique of Rogan
“He wouldn’t know,” Rousey stated. “He’s not an expert. He’s a fan with an audience. Never fought … taekwondo is not fighting.” This remark reflects tensions that have emerged in their relationship, particularly following Rousey’s losses to Amanda Nunes and Holly Holm.
In a prior interview, Rousey mentioned feeling abandoned by Rogan and others towards the end of her UFC career. Rousey, who won a bronze medal in judo at the 2008 Olympics, made significant contributions to the sport of MMA as the women’s bantamweight champion, defending her title six times before being inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2018.
Rousey’s Impact Beyond UFC
Since leaving the UFC, Rousey transitioned to WWE, where she became a three-time women’s champion and also held the tag team championship. Her achievements across both wrestling and MMA underscore her influence in combat sports.
Rousey continues to be a prominent figure in sports discussions, as her comments about Rogan and the UFC indicate the ongoing dynamics within the mixed martial arts community.
