Chelmsford Hosts 2025 Remembrance Sunday Service and Parade

The city of Chelmsford is set to host its Remembrance Sunday Service and Parade on November 9, 2024. The event will commence at 10.55 AM at the War Memorial located on Duke Street. This occasion serves to honor current and former members of the Armed Forces.
Ceremony Details
The Mayor of Chelmsford, Councillor Jannetta Sosin, will lead the ceremony alongside veterans and community members. The service will be conducted by The Very Reverend Dr. Jessica Martin, Dean of Chelmsford, with support from the local inter-faith community.
Wreath Laying and Silence
Wreaths will be laid at the memorial by the Mayor, local Armed Forces representatives, and various community groups. Individuals or organizations interested in laying a wreath are encouraged to register in advance by emailing their request to El-Balad.
A two-minute silence will be observed at 11 AM on both November 9 and November 11. This silence will be marked by the firing of maroons to honor fallen service members.
Parade and Community Engagement
After the service on November 9, a parade will march along Rainsford Road before returning to the War Memorial, where the Mayor will take the salute. Councillor Sosin invites the community to participate in the Poppy Appeal, stating the importance of honoring those who serve.

Parts of Duke Street will be closed starting at 10 AM on November 9; however, access to Fairfield Road Car Park from Coval Lane will remain open. A designated shelter will be available for elderly and disabled ex-service members.
