Bukayo Saka: Arsenal must adapt to Viktor Gyokeres despite smooth settling in

Bukayo Saka has acknowledged the impressive start of Viktor Gyokeres at Arsenal but emphasized the need for adaptation to his unique playing style. Gyokeres joined the club from Sporting CP this summer for €63.5 million (£54.8 million; $74.2 million), with additional add-ons of €10 million. The 27-year-old striker has netted five goals in 13 appearances, including a crucial brace against Atletico Madrid that ended a lengthy goal drought.

Adapting to Viktor Gyokeres’ Style

Saka highlighted the differences between Gyokeres and last season’s main striker, Kai Havertz. “Viktor is playing really well and has settled in with the group. We need to adapt to his game and create more chances,” Saka noted. He believes that as Gyokeres becomes more comfortable, the team will improve their synergy.

Impact of Eberechi Eze

In addition to Gyokeres, Saka praised Eberechi Eze, who joined Arsenal from Crystal Palace for an initial fee of £60 million, with potential add-ons of £7.5 million. Eze has made a significant impact, scoring two goals and registering three assists in 11 matches. His standout performance included the winning goal against Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium last Sunday.

Current Team Form

  • Arsenal leads the Premier League, four points ahead of their closest competitors.
  • They are six points clear of Manchester City and seven points ahead of Liverpool.

Saka remained cautious regarding title aspirations, stating that the team’s final position this season will be more important than their current form. He acknowledged past struggles with injuries and fatigue and is optimistic about the depth of this year’s squad mitigating those issues.

Looking Ahead

“Winning the Premier League this season and the World Cup with England next summer is a possibility,” Saka remarked, indicating that both goals are within reach. Arsenal’s next fixtures include a Carabao Cup match against Brighton & Hove Albion at the Emirates, followed by a Premier League match against Burnley.
