Sheriff Reports 2 Dead, 11 Injured in NC Halloween Party Shooting

At a Halloween party in Robeson County, North Carolina, a tragic shooting occurred early Saturday morning. Authorities reported that two individuals lost their lives, and 11 others sustained injuries in the violent incident.
Shooting Incident Overview
The Robeson County Sheriff’s Office stated that the shooting unfolded around 1:15 a.m. on Dixon Drive, just outside of Maxton. Witnesses indicated that more than 300 people were in attendance at the event, which featured a DJ and alcoholic beverages.
Victims Identified
- Jessie Locklear Jr.: 49 years old, from Lumberton.
- Nehemiah Locklear: 16 years old, also from Lumberton.
Both victims were confirmed dead at the scene. Several of the remaining injured parties were transported to local hospitals, including Scotland Health Care in Laurinburg and UNC Health Southeastern Medical Center in Lumberton, with some critically hurt.

Robeson County Sheriff Burnis Wilkins provided updates regarding the shooting. He mentioned that multiple calls were received shortly after the gunfire erupted, alerting authorities to the chaotic situation.
As deputies arrived, they noted that over 150 partygoers were fleeing the area. Eyewitness accounts revealed that shooters engaged in a reckless exchange of gunfire, seemingly disregarding the crowded environment.
Investigation Status
Currently, no arrests have been made, but the sheriff’s office is pursuing several persons of interest. Unfortunately, some attendees are not cooperating with authorities, which complicates the investigation.
Wilkins expressed his concern regarding this lack of collaboration, acknowledging that it is a recurring issue in such cases. He pointed out a previous incident from one or two years ago that remains unresolved due to similar circumstances.
