Chicago Snow Forecast Triggers Advisory, May Affect Roads Tomorrow

Chicago residents should prepare for a significant snow event that may impact driving conditions starting this weekend. The National Weather Service has issued several Winter Weather Advisories for the area, signaling that snow is expected to begin falling during the evening hours.
Winter Weather Advisories Effected Areas
The advisories cover various counties with different effective times:
- Boone, DeKalb, LaSalle, Lee, Ogle, and Winnebago counties: 9 p.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday.
- Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Grundy, Lake (Illinois), Lake (Indiana), Porter, McHenry, and Will counties: Midnight to 9 a.m. Sunday.
- Racine, Kenosha, and Walworth counties (Wisconsin): 10 p.m. Saturday to 8 a.m. Sunday.
Forecasted Snowfall
According to AccuWeather meteorologists, snow is anticipated to commence between 9 p.m. and midnight Saturday. Snowfall is expected to cease between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. Sunday morning. Forecasters predict accumulations of:
- 2 to 3 inches in most areas.
- Some regions north of Interstate 80 may experience isolated totals of up to 4 inches.
In certain locations, including Kankakee, southern Will, Grundy, and southern LaSalle counties, rain may mix with snow, affecting final accumulation totals.
Road Safety and Upcoming Weather
An AccuWeather Alert has been issued for Sunday morning, forewarning drivers of slick and snow-covered roads. The Office of Emergency Management and Communications urges motorists to take precautionary measures.
As temperatures are forecasted to drop Sunday afternoon, lake-effect snow could also occur after 9 p.m. This winter weather is not a one-off event; additional snow is expected on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
