Free Entry Days for National Parks in 2026: Key Dates Announced

In 2026, entry to national parks across the United States will be free on specific days. The National Park Service has announced the dates for these free admission days, signaling a change in the usual calendar. The eligibility for free entry is now limited to U.S. citizens and residents. Nonresidents will still need to pay regular entrance fees.
Key Free Entry Days for National Parks in 2026
The following dates in 2026 will allow free admission to national parks:
- February 16: Presidents Day
- May 25: Memorial Day
- June 14: Flag Day (also President Donald Trump’s birthday)
- July 3–5: Independence Day weekend
- August 25: National Park Service’s 110th birthday
- September 17: Constitution Day
- October 27: Theodore Roosevelt’s birthday
- November 11: Veterans Day
Changes in Free Entry Days
This year’s announcement signifies a shift in the list of free entry days. Notably, Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Juneteenth are no longer included. However, the addition of Flag Day and the continued recognition of Independence Day weekend are highlights of the new schedule.

South Dakota State Parks
In South Dakota, state parks will also offer free entry on the weekend of May 17-19 during the Open House event. This weekend will coincide with Free Fishing Weekend, allowing residents to fish without a license while adhering to regulations.
