“Prepare Your Umbrellas: Snow and Rain Expected in Central Regions Tomorrow”

Residents in central regions should prepare for wet weather, as snow and rain are forecasted for tomorrow. According to the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA), various areas will experience precipitation, particularly from late afternoon onwards.

Weather Forecast for Central Regions

The expected weather conditions include:

  • Snow Accumulation:
    • Gangwon mountainous regions: 1 to 3 cm
    • Gangwon inland, northern East Coast, Chungcheong region, and Jeonbuk: around 1 cm
    • Eastern and southwestern Gyeonggi, and the five islands in the Yellow Sea: less than 1 cm
  • Precipitation Amounts:
    • Ulleungdo and Dokdo: 5 to 10 mm
    • Gangwon (excluding central and southern East Coast), Chungcheong, Jeonbuk: around 1 mm
    • Eastern and southwestern Gyeonggi, the five islands in the Yellow Sea, southwestern and northern inland Gyeongbuk, northeastern mountainous regions, and western inland Gyeongnam: less than 1 mm

Safety Precautions

Drivers and pedestrians should be cautious, as roads may become slippery in flooded areas. Ice patches could also form on roads in colder locations. The KMA advises that morning temperatures are expected to range from -5 to 6 degrees Celsius, while daytime highs will be between -3 and 10 degrees Celsius.

Although morning lows are anticipated to be somewhat higher than average (-11 to 0 degrees Celsius), the daytime temperatures are forecasted to be lower than the seasonal norm (1 to 8 degrees Celsius). The weather is expected to get even colder over the next few days, making it crucial to dress warmly.

Air Quality and Sea Conditions

The air quality across the regions is expected to be in the “good” to “moderate” levels. However, due to atmospheric stagnation, Chungcheong may experience poor air quality until early morning, while Honam and parts of Daegu, Gyeongbuk, and Gyeongnam may see similar conditions until the morning.

Regarding sea conditions, wave heights are forecasted to be:

  • East Sea: 0.5 to 2.0 meters
  • West Sea: 0.5 to 3.0 meters
  • South Sea: 0.5 to 2.5 meters
  • Far-off seas (around 200 km from the coastline):
    • East Sea: 1.0 to 4.0 meters
    • West Sea: 1.5 to 5.0 meters
    • South Sea: 0.5 to 4.0 meters
