Brooke Henderson Trails by Five at BMW Championship in Korea

At the BMW Ladies Championship in Haenam, South Korea, two seasoned LPGA Tour veterans are making headlines. Sei Young Kim and Lindy Duncan showcased their skills during the opening round on Thursday. Kim, 32, topped the leaderboard with an impressive score of 10-under 62, while Duncan, 34, trails her by two strokes.
Key Highlights from the BMW Ladies Championship
Sei Young Kim had an exceptional round, recording eight birdies and an eagle. She expressed her delight, stating, “This is near my hometown, so I have lots of family and fans here.” Hyo Joo Kim is in the mix as well, finishing the first round with a score of 63. This puts her in second place, just one stroke ahead of Duncan.
Brooke Henderson’s Performance
Canadian golfer Brooke Henderson finds herself tied for 12th place, five shots behind the leader after a solid five-under 67. Her performance includes several birdies but is not enough to catch the leaders.
Other Notable Performances
- Rio Takeda shot a score of 65, tying for fourth place.
- Lucy Li made headlines with a hole-in-one on the par-3 13th and finished with a score of 68.
- Defending champion Hannah Green and fellow Australian Minjee Lee both finished their rounds at 68.
Green’s victory last year marked her third win of the season, a notable achievement for an Australian golfer since Karrie Webb. However, Green acknowledged her struggles this season, saying, “My golf game hasn’t been quite where I would like it to be.”
Upcoming Events
This tournament is the first of two consecutive events held in South Korea, with the International Crown team event following next week. Last week, Jeeno Thitikul became the first multiple winner on the LPGA season, but she is not competing this week. Thitikul will, however, represent Thailand in the upcoming International Crown.
Following the International Crown, the LPGA will continue its Asian swing with events scheduled in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and in Japan, extending the competitive season for the tour’s top players.
