Ford Recalls 740,000 Vehicles Due to Camera, Steering, and Seatbelt Defects

Ford Motor Company is issuing a significant recall encompassing nearly 750,000 vehicles due to various safety concerns, including camera display malfunctions, steering issues, and seatbelt defects. These actions come in response to issues highlighted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Camera Display Issues Affecting Over 290,000 Vehicles

A major portion of the recall relates to a malfunctioning rearview camera display. The NHTSA reported that more than 290,000 vehicles are affected by this issue in the U.S. Specifically, the affected models include the 2020-2022 F-250 Super Duty, F-350 Super Duty, and F-450 Super Duty.

The recall notice, issued on October 10, indicated that the 360-degree camera system may fail to display rearview images adequately under certain lighting conditions. This defect increases the risk of accidents, as drivers may struggle to see properly behind their vehicles.

Ford dealers are equipped to update the image processing module software at no cost to owners. The company has designated the recall number 25SA8, while the NHTSA’s reference for this recall is 25V-686. Notably, this is Ford’s third rearview camera-related recall this year, following the recall of nearly 1.1 million vehicles in May and an additional 200,000 vehicles in July.

Steering Column Defect in 115,539 Vehicles

Another critical recall concerns a potential loss of steering control. Ford is recalling 115,539 units from its Super Duty truck lineup. The defect involves the upper shaft of the steering column detaching, which may lead to a complete loss of steering capability and heightened crash risk.

The NHTSA published this notice on September 23. In this case, dealers will inspect the steering column and either repair or replace the upper shaft at no charge to the owners. Letters informing vehicle owners of this safety concern were mailed on October 6, 2025, with a final remedy anticipated by December 2025. Ford’s recall number for this issue is 25S94, and the NHTSA’s number is 25V-626.

Seatbelt Issue in 332,778 Ford Vehicles

The third category of recall affects 332,778 Ford vehicles due to a seatbelt defect. A corroded cable might break, preventing the seatbelt from functioning properly, which could increase the risk of injury during an accident. This situation arises when cables interact with moisture and road salts.

This recall specifically targets certain 2015-2017 Ford Mustang models. Dealers will inspect and replace the front seatbelt cables free of charge. A notification regarding this safety risk is expected to be sent to owners this month, with further remedy letters scheduled for January once a solution is finalized. Ford’s recall number for this issue is 25S92, and NHTSA’s number is 25V-614.
