“CD Projekt RED Accidentally Reveals ‘Witcher 3: Songs of the Past’ Expansion”

CD Projekt RED has inadvertently unveiled a new expansion for its acclaimed game, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, titled “Songs of the Past.” Scheduled for a proper reveal on May 28, 2026, the details were prematurely released through the RED Launcher, leading to significant online traffic.

“Songs of the Past” is set to launch in 2027 across multiple platforms, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Notably, it will not be available on the upcoming Switch 2.
Development Team
This expansion is co-developed with Fool’s Theory, a Polish studio composed of former CD Projekt developers known for their work on The Thaumaturge, released in 2024. The collaboration aims to deliver a fresh experience while retaining the essence of the Witcher universe.
Geralt’s Return
Players will once again step into the shoes of Geralt of Rivia for a brand-new adventure. The expansion promises to deliver engaging plot elements, including a central sword that Geralt is shown unsheathing in promotional material.
Minimum System Requirements
To prepare for the upcoming expansion, CD Projekt RED has updated the minimum system requirements for The Witcher 3. Players will now need:
- AMD Ryzen 5 2600 or Intel Core i5 8400 processor
- GTX 1660 or RX 5500 XT 8GB GPU or better
- At least 6GB of VRAM
- 12GB of system RAM
- 70GB of SSD storage
- 64-bit Windows 11
Older hardware users may revert to previous versions if they choose not to upgrade, but the game will now run using DirectX 12 exclusively.
