In the 10th over, a top-edged pull from Rovman Powell fell between Chahar and his teammate Robin Minz, both converging on the ball yet unable to secure it. This unfortunate incident raised questions about MI’s catching abilities.
Deepak Chahar’s Catching Challenges
Later, in the 18th over, Chahar attempted to catch a scoop from Tejasvi Dahiya. As Ryan Rickelton pursued the ball from behind the stumps, Chahar also rushed in from deep fine-leg. Despite the lack of communication, Rickelton successfully caught the ball, while Chahar landed awkwardly. Mhambrey defended Chahar, stating, “No one does it on purpose. You drop catches. It just happens, part of the game.”
