BERC Reduces Jet Fuel Price by Tk39.57 Per Litre

The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has announced a significant reduction in jet fuel prices, effective from midnight. The latest adjustment, made on May 23, 2026, marks a decrease of Tk39.57 per litre.

New Jet Fuel Prices

The updated price for Jet A-1 fuel for domestic flights is now Tk165.88 per litre, which includes duty and VAT. This is a notable drop from the previous price of Tk205.45 per litre.

International Flight Prices

For international flights operated by both local and foreign airlines, the price has decreased from $1.3385 to $1.0823 per litre, excluding duty and VAT.

Recent Trends and Adjustments

  • May 23: Jet fuel prices reduced by Tk39.57 per litre.
  • May 7: Previous reduction of Tk22.35 per litre.
  • April 7: Increase of nearly Tk25 per litre.
  • March 24: Sharp increase of around Tk90 per litre.

These fluctuations in fuel prices are attributed to ongoing changes in the global oil market. BERC revises jet fuel prices monthly based on international benchmark rates. The adjustments consider several factors, including the average Platts rate for Jet A-1 fuel and the US dollar exchange rate used in the Bulk Petroleum Corporation’s settlement processes.

Determining Factors for Price Changes

The final jet fuel prices are influenced by:

  • Average Platts rate from the 5th to the 21st of the month.
  • US dollar exchange rate for settlements.
  • Current diesel prices in the domestic market.
  • Transportation charges for coastal tankers and pipelines.

This reduction in jet fuel prices not only aims to alleviate operational costs for airlines but is also expected to impact air travel ticket prices positively.
