Prince William Visits Isles of Scilly on West Country Tour | ITV News

Prince William is set to visit the Isles of Scilly today, continuing his tour of the West Country. This visit follows his previous day spent in Nansledan, Newquay, focusing on new Duchy of Cornwall homes.
Isles of Scilly Visit Details
On Friday, May 22, the Duke of Cornwall will travel to St Mary’s. A key highlight of his visit is the Isles of Scilly Hospital. Here, he will meet with staff and patients, while officially opening a new facility that enhances the hospital’s medical capacity.
New Housing Development
Following his hospital visit, the Duke will tour a nearly completed construction project. This project consists of ten new sustainable homes developed by the Duchy of Cornwall. The initiative aims to address the critical housing shortage on the Isles.
- Prioritization: Homes are reserved for individuals who have lived on the Isles for over five years or currently work there.
- Energy Efficiency: Each house is designed with high insulation, positive ventilation, and solar panels.
- Parking Facilities: The properties will include parking for the island car-share scheme with electric vehicle charging points.
- Completion Date: Residents are expected to move in by winter 2026.
Response to Storm Goretti
Additionally, during his visit, Prince William will meet with local emergency responders. They will discuss the damage caused by Storm Goretti earlier this year.
The storm resulted in notable loss of shelterbelt trees, essential for protecting the community from storms. The Duke is expected to participate in replanting a shelterbelt tree, reflecting on the Duchy of Cornwall’s role in supporting recovery efforts.
Overall, this visit underscores the commitment to improving infrastructure and community resilience on the Isles of Scilly.
