CSK Targets Top Four Spot in IPL 2026 Clash with LSG

In a crucial match for the IPL 2026 season, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) opted to bowl first after winning the toss against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). LSG captain Rishabh Pant described the pitch at Lucknow as “tacky,” and CSK’s Ruturaj Gaikwad acknowledged the potential challenges posed by the surface’s moisture.
Team Changes and Strategies
CSK made two lineup changes due to the injury of allrounder Jamie Overton, who will miss the rest of the season. This led to the introduction of Spencer Johnson, an Australian left-arm quick, marking his franchise debut after recovering from a back injury. Additionally, Gurjapneet Singh is expected to serve as the Impact Sub for CSK during the match.
Prashant Veer, who was an Impact Player in the previous encounter against LSG, earned a spot in the starting XI, playing at his home ground. A win in this matchup would secure CSK a place in the top four of the standings.
Lucknow Super Giants’ Lineup Adjustments
On the LSG side, several strategic changes were made for this match. Akash Singh, a left-arm seamer, is set to play his first match of the season against his former team. Middle-order players Abdul Samad and Mukul Choudhary returned to the team, while Himmat Singh and Akshat Raghuwanshi were left out. Avesh Khan was also missing, making way for Mayank Yadav, who is playing his third match of the season.
