West Kelowna Pizza Owner Condemns Viral Prank for Crossing the Line

A serious incident occurred at Evergreen Pizzeria in West Kelowna, British Columbia, involving a social media prank that crossed ethical boundaries. Dalwinder Dub, the owner, recounted how a teenager entered the pizzeria last Wednesday evening, urgently seeking assistance.
The Disturbing Encounter
The situation escalated quickly when a second teenager followed the first inside, agitated and yelling threats. “He was screaming that, ‘Hey, I’m gonna kill you,’” Dub recalled. Concerned for the safety of both teens, Dub intervened by positioning himself between them.
Security footage captured the chaotic scene, revealing one of the teens jumping onto the counter. Dub managed to expel the aggressive teen from the establishment. However, the aftermath left him troubled.
Consequences of the Prank
After the confrontation, Dub discovered that a cellphone and cash were missing. He later learned that the two teens left the store together, which compounded his concerns. “Heartbroken when I realized that they are together,” he reflected. He believed the entire incident might have been recorded as part of a social media stunt.
Law Enforcement Response
Const. Ash Puri, a media relations officer with West Kelowna RCMP, stated that their investigation is ongoing. Officers are analyzing the available information and reviewing the incident further. The two suspects were reportedly dressed similarly and might have recorded their actions using sunglasses designed for filming.

The Impact of Social Media Pranks
Dubbing the prank a potentially hazardous trend, Dub emphasized the moral dilemmas posed by helping individuals in distress. “I’m always happy to help, but next time, I think I will think twice,” he admitted, recognizing the risks involved. He urged the teens to return the stolen property and apologize for their behavior, asserting the importance of accountability.
While West Kelowna RCMP has not reported a rise in similar pranks recently, they are committed to thoroughly investigating each case. Dub’s experience serves as a reminder of the fine line between harmless fun and dangerous behavior in the age of social media.
