A REACH medical helicopter crashed on eastbound Highway 50, near 59th Street. The California Highway Patrol reported a complete closure of the freeway due to the incident.
Injuries Reported
- Three crew members were on board during the crash.
- All three sustained critical injuries and were transported to local hospitals.
- Two crew members were found in the roadway, while one was trapped under the helicopter.
Rescue Efforts
Fire Captain Justin Sylvia stated that emergency responders and bystanders worked together to lift the helicopter off the trapped crew member upon their arrival.

The cause of the helicopter crash is still under investigation. The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office is currently aiding the California Highway Patrol in their inquiries.
